The Vivotek FD8166A-N is a mini infrared IP dome camera capable of recording in 1920 x 1080 resolution at up to 30 frames per second with a 2 Megapixel CMOS image sensor. The Vivotek FD8166A-N mini infrared IP dome camera has an ultra compact housing design of only 3.5 inches / 90mm in diameter. It comes with a fixed 2.8mm lens to provide a wide 113° horizontal angle of view.

Users can record video clips and snapshots locally by using the Micro SD / SDHC / SDXC card slot. To reduce file size and conserve bandwidth this camera uses the H.264 video codec, a standard in video surveillance today. The built-in microphone has an effective range of 5 meters or 16 feet.

Infrared LEDs allow the camera to continue recording in complete darkness, and have an effective range of up to 6 meters / 18 feet. Unlike traditional infrared LEDs that emit a red glow when they are on, the 940nm LEDs on the FD8166A-N are completely invisible to the human eye. Further enhancing the IR capability is the Smart IR Technology, which allows the LEDs to dim and brighten as objects move in front of the camera, preventing IR whiteout.

The Vivotek-FD8166A-N can be remotely accessed through a PC web browser, iPhone / iPad, and Android mobile device. This gives the user the ability to access, and view, live video footage from the camera anytime during the day. This camera is powered using POE 802.3af, allowing both data and power to be run over a single Cat-5E cable.
